The Brown-Taylor Legacy

The Brown-Taylor Legacy began with the marriage of  Henry Brown to Elizabeth Taylor in the 1890's.  Henry was the son of Sydney Brown, Sr. and Jeana Reese, whilst Elizabeth was the daughter of Essex Taylor, Sr. and Sarah Delaine Taylor.  Both families were and continue to be great influencers in the State of South Carolina.  The recorded history of both families can be documented from the late 1700's as "free blacks in the midst of an evolving plantation slavery overtaking the American landscape.  Rich in wealth and history, the two families grew into a beautiful tapestry of Browns, Cleas, Cohens, Crossons, Keiths, Roaches and Spanns just to name a few and continue to hold up the legacy of scholarship, social justice, love of family and community as they soar through the 21st Century.
